Burnaby-based marine equipment business Mustang Survival is merging with California-based watercraft manufacturer Wing Group, Mustang Survival has announced.

Mustang Survival bids itself as a brand “known for innovative solutions for the most demanding marine environments,” including life-saving gear, which general manager Jason Leggatt said would pair well with Wing Group’s watercraft business.

“We can already see tremendous synergies in our technology and operational capabilities that will enable the combined group to take the market by storm. It’s incredibly exciting times for our brand,” Leggattt said in a news release.

Both brands have been expanding, and the merger only serves to boost that expansion, offering Mustang Survival the ability to “engage directly with Wing’s end customers,” a press release said.

“This merger presents a unique and strategic growth opportunity for both sides, especially as we aim to deepen our suite of marine and over-water aviation products,” Wing Group CEO Andrew Branagh said in a statement.
