GALLERY: These kids are loving the giant food at Metrotown's mall in Burnaby

If only it were real food

Giant food has arrived at a Burnaby mall, and kids are already taking the time to crawl around on the eight-foot-tall pretzel and peer through the hole in the nine-foot donut.

It's part of the Snack 'N Snap event, being held at Metropolis at Metrotown's grand court starting yesterday (Thursday) and running through to July 28.

Shortly before noon Thursday, the attraction did appear to be bringing out a crowd – largely parents snapping pictures of their young children, who gleefully climbed, interacted and posed with the displays.

New this year, Metropolis has added an eight-foot pretzel and melting ice pops displays. During the exhibit, shoppers can snap endless selfies in front of the jumbo displays, share their photos on Instagram by tagging @metropolisatmet and #METSNACKNSNAP, and enter for a chance to win a prize pack or a $500 Metropolis at Metrotown gift card.

The “Guess the jellybeans” contest is back by popular demand. Shoppers can guess daily how many hundreds (or thousands) of jellybeans are in the display case and enter their guess for a chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree. There are also random contests for prize giveaways on Metropolis’ Facebook and Instagram.

You can scroll through our photos from the display above.
