New Burnaby beer and wine store raising money for food bank on Saturday

JAK'S Beer Wine Spirits is officially opening its doors at Parkcrest Mall in Burnaby on Saturday – raising money for those in need in the process.
Ten per cent of sales from the Parkcrest grand opening will be donated to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
“The Greater Vancouver Food Bank is extremely grateful to JAK’S Beer Wine Spirits for donating 10 percent of their opening day sales at their new store in Burnaby," said Cynthia Kinsella, Chief Development Officer for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. "The GVFB has 3 locations in Burnaby, where we provide food for approximately 1,700 people each week. The support of our communities means the world to us, and fundraisers like JAK’S not only raise much needed funds, but they also raise awareness. And with our 3:1 buying power, JAK’S donations will triple in value when we use them to purchase healthy, nutritious food for our members.”
JAK'S Parkcrest opening will include an official ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. with champagne sabering lessons from Lynn Coulthard, Head Wine and Spirits Buyer for JAK'S. Guests will also be treated to complimentary wine tastings and appetizers throughout the day.
"At JAK'S, family is everything and we strive to treat our guests like family, while offering a unique product selection," adds Tim Dumas, Director of Sales and Marketing at JAK'S. "Our new Parkcrest location in Burnaby marks our 15th store and we're excited to officially open and give back -- especially at this time of year."
The event runs until 8 p.m. at 5901 Broadway.
