Students at Edmonds Junior Secondary belt out a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday in January 1988 to mark their school’s 94th year.

Slated for closure the following year, Edmonds opened as The Burnaby School on Jan. 22, 1894 across Canada Way from the site of today’s Edmonds Community School.

It was the first school built in Burnaby, and its later incarnations counted the likes of movie star Michael J. Fox and CFL receiver Rick House among its alumni.
