The morning sound of birdsong is a sure sign that spring has, indeed, arrived.

Burnaby bird-lovers are invited to join in a bird watching walk at Central Park on Friday, April 12.

The walk will be led by Neill Vanhinsberg, a librarian with Burnaby Public Library and an experienced birder, who’ll offer up tips on viewing birds in Burnaby parks. Walk participants may be able to see hummingbirds, thrushes, warblers, kinglets, chickadees, sparrows, finches and ravens.

Space is limited, so anyone who wants to take part needs to sign up ahead. See www.bpl.bc.ca/events, or call 604-436-5400.

Participants should bring their own binoculars and meet in the program room at the Metrotown library branch (6100 Willingdon Ave.) The walk runs from 9 to 11 a.m.
