Young adults in Burnaby (aged 18 to 49) continue to lead the way for COVID-19 vaccination.

Younger adults in Burnaby are still leading the way for COVID-19 vaccination.

The city's 18-to-49 age group is the most vaccinated in the Fraser Health region, with fully 89% of that cohort having received two doses of a COVID vaccine. That's according to the latest data on the B.C. Centre for Disease control's surveillance dashboard.

In fact, just seven local health areas in B.C. – all of them in the Vancouver Coastal Health region – have a higher percentage of fully vaccinated residents in that age group, which takes in Generation Z, Millennials and the younger half of the Generation X cohort. (See below for the list of top health areas.)

First-dose vaccination rates among that age group in Burnaby have now climbed to 95%.

Vaccination rates continue to be high among all age groups in the city, with every marker now over 80%. Among 12-to-17-year-olds, 89% have received one dose and 82% are now fully vaccinated. For the 50-and-up crowd, first-dose vaccination stands at 89% and second-dose at 86%.

In total, 87% of the city's eligible population (aged 12 and up) has been fully vaccinated with two doses.
