Glenbrook Middle School has reported another COVID-19 exposure in February.
The latest exposure at the school occurred on Feb. 8, 9 and 10, according to the Fraser Health school exposures website.
It's the third exposure notice for the school since winter break, with previous exposures reported on Jan. 4 and for the week of Feb. 1 to 5.
Glenbrook is the New Westminster school district's largest middle school, with a student population of about 685, according to district stats for the 2020/21 school year. That makes it the second-most-populous school in the district, behind only New Westminster Secondary School – which is the only school to have reported more exposures than Glenbrook in this school year.
Though the recent exposures at Glenbrook and NWSS have brought the district's exposure numbers back up after a quiet January, the numbers in local schools still remain much lower than before Christmas.
In the month of December alone, the district sent out 29 early notification letters about school exposures and a further 18 letters directing people to self-monitor for symptoms. In December, two classes at NWSS were also sent into the winter break in self-isolation.
Numbers still remain low in the district's elementary schools, with only one elementary school exposure (Herbert Spencer on Jan. 25) reported in 2021. Lord Kelvin and Connaught Heights elementary schools remain the only two schools in the district to report no exposures so far in the 2020/21 school year.
