The Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre is inviting everyone in to get a jump-start on the holiday shopping season.

Nikkei Centre is hosting its annual craft and bake fair on Saturday, Nov. 16 and Sunday, Nov. 17. The fair will include more than 85 booths featuring arts, crafts, baked goods and food.

The selection includes a range of offerings – knitted items, handmade woodworked goods, jewelry, greeting cards, soap and bath bombs, pet gifts, homemade Japanese sweets, Christmas treats and more.

The fair will also include a free origami Christmas ornament making drop-in workshop on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m., as well as a number of workshops by pre-registration. You can sign up for a workshop in kirigami (a form of paper art featuring cutting and folding) on Saturday at noon, tsumami zaiku (cloth flowers) on Saturday at 2 p.m., and sumi-e (traditional black ink painting) on Sunday at 1 p.m.

There will also be a Santa photo shoot and a kids’ craft zone, and the fair runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Admission is $3, or free for children 12 and under and Nikkei Centre members.
