Four Burnaby writers are among those receiving money from the B.C. Arts Council.

The council has just announced funding for groups and individuals around the province, and four writers from Burnaby are among those receiving individual arts awards in creative writing: Doretta Lau ($6,000), Jennifer S. Lee ($12,000), Jacqueline M. Pearce ($11,000), and Adam G. Warren ($5,500).

A number of Burnaby-based organizations are also receiving grants from the council. The Burnaby Arts Council will receive $33,000, the Burnaby Art Galley gets $20,000, the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre gets $42,000, and the Simon Fraser University galleries receive $13,000.

“B.C.’s arts community is part of a creative and sustainable economy that works for people, and this funding means Burnaby creators can further develop the arts in our community,” said Katrina Chen, MLA for Burnaby-Lougheed, in a press release.
