Sunday, Aug. 12

Port Royal Community Garden Society and Artists in the Boro offer their annual Mad Hatters Tea Party and Art in the Garden event as part of the New Westminster Cultural Crawl. Decorate your own hat with help from the volunteers, take part in kids’ activities, check out the art and enjoy tea, treats, sandwiches and mini-quiches under the garden canopy – all free. Art display from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and tea from noon to 3 p.m. The Port Royal Community Garden is across from 83 Star Cres. in Queensborough, a short walk from the Q2Q ferry. Painting for Parkinson’s 2018, a free community event at 100 Braid Street Studios, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., bringing together those affected by Parkinson’s disease with family, friends, neighbours and the community. No painting experience necessary; participants will bring home a 12 X 12 canvas of their own at the end of the session. All welcome. Art supplies and refreshments included.
