Calling all filmmakers: The Vancouver Short Film Festival is seeking submissions for its 10th edition, coming Jan. 25 and 26 to Vancity Theatre.

Short-format filmmakers from around B.C. are invited to submit their work starting June 1.

Last year’s festival featured 39 short films, including six student films and 15 directed by women.

“The festival provides an arena where local B.C. filmmakers, including students, can screen their short films in public, support their fellow colleagues, and showcase the talent of a province that has become renowned for its support of large international productions,” said a festival press release.

Last year’s attendance was at 100 per cent capacity, with all screenings completely sold out. The festival also gave away more than $12,000 worth of prizes in its efforts to support B.C. filmmakers.

“We’re so excited by how much the festival has grown over the past 10 years. It’s showing no signs of slowing down,” said festival co-director Marena Dix in the press release. “This year we’ll have two full days of films – we can’t wait to see what B.C. filmmakers have in store for us this time around.”

Submissions are open from June 1 to Oct. 12. For full film submission guidelines, see www.vsff.com.
