Here’s one for lovers of slam poetry.

The Metrotown branch of Burnaby Public Library (6100 Willingdon Ave.) is hosting a pair of visits from Spillious, the 2017 Grand Slam Champion of the Vancouver Poetry Slam.

First, on Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m., Spillious, a transfeminine poet from Vancouver, will read selections from their work, take questions and talk about their experiences as a writer.

Then, on Sept. 27, Spillious returns to lead a poetry workshop.

“Through prompts and exercises, Spillious will help participants write poetry and share their own story,” says a library write-up. “This creative, interactive workshop will also share insights on how to perform poetry in engaging ways.”

Both programs require registration. Check out www.bpl.bc.ca/events for all the details and to sign up.
