A young Burnaby theatre artist is part of the crew for an upcoming youth-focused production.
Some Assembly Theatre Company and RHYTAG (Roundhouse Youth Theatre Action Group) are presenting the premiere of their newest production, REWIRE, from May 1 to May 4 at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre in Vancouver.
REWIRE was created by industry professionals in collaboration with a diverse group of youth from around the region. The original multimedia theatre production is set on the night of a symbolic lunar eclipse and major video game event, when a group of youth come together to tackle the root causes of their stress – including poverty, grief and sexual assault.
It’s directed by Valerie Methot, who wrote the production in collaboration with RHYTAG.
Burnaby’s Brogan Ho has been working on RHYTAG projects since 2013 as both a writer and actor, and she’s since taken on such other roles as dramaturg, director’s assistant and makeup designer. Ho, who is a graduate of the Global Makeup Diploma program at the Blanche Macdonald Centre, serves as makeup and hair designer and a design assistant for the production. She also served as a script consultant for REWIRE.
REWIRE is onstage Wednesday, May 1 to Saturday, May 4. It’s on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., Thursday at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Admission to all shows is free, but donations (which go directly to RHYTAG) are appreciated. You can save your seats for evening shows at www.eventbrite.ca (search for REWIRE).
The Roundhouse centre is at 181 Roundhouse Mews in Vancouver. For details about the show, see www.someassembly.ca or www.facebook.com/rhytag.
