The musical, with music and lyrics by Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the 1980 hit movie of the same name. The musical, set in the late 1970s, tells the story of three female co-workers who concoct a plan to get even with “the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss,” as a press release says.
