A whopping 15% of North Burnaby kids are living in poverty

In the Burnaby North-Seymour riding, just under half of children in lone-parent families live in poverty. That’s according to anti-poverty group First Call, which is trying to get people talking about this issue in the federal election.

That’s according to anti-poverty group First Call, which is trying to get people talking about this issue in the federal election.

The group has released its data on the Burnaby North-Seymour riding, as well as a “toolkit” people can use to advocate for this issue during the election.

Other riding numbers include:

  • About 45 per cent of Burnaby renters are paying >30 per cent of their monthly income on shelter.
  • 18 per cent of all residents are living in poverty.
  • 15 per cent of children are living in poverty.
