Cold temperature and strong winds are in the forecast this week.
Environment Canada released a special weather statement on Monday, stating that Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley and Howe Sound are expecting a drop in temperature starting Feb. 21 with a minimum of near -5C to -10C.
The chilly temperature is in the forecast this evening through to Wednesday night.
According to the weather agency, the change in the weather is due to "an arctic air mass" that is arriving on the B.C. coast today and with the combination of outflow winds, a cold windchill near -10C to -15C will be felt in the evening.
Temperatures during the day will be moderate, however, they are still "below seasonal normals."
"The outflow winds will be strongest near Howe Sound and the Fraser Valley. There is also another chance of light flurries over the Fraser Valley late tonight into early Tuesday morning," reads the statement.
It added that the weather is expected to gradually warm-up later this week.
B.C. residents are reminded to prepare for the cold temperature and strong winds and to dress warmly in layers if they are heading outdoors.
Pets and outdoor animals should have appropriate shelters.
