It'll be a "near normal" week for Vancouver when it comes to weather, according to Environment Canada meteorologist Louis Kohanyi.
"It's going to be mostly dry conditions except on Wednesday and Thursday," he tells V.I.A.
And even when there is precipitation, it won't be significant or dramatic, he adds.
With temperatures between 18 C and 11 C, this weeks highs and lows of 19 C and 12 C are very much in line with the norms for this time of year.
An average start
Sunday, June 1, should finish off with a mix of sun and cloud, which is good news for those looking to see some northern lights, as a ridge of high pressure keeps things relatively clear.
However, anyone down at the beach may notice a breeze today and over the next few days, with gusts up to 40 km/h at the ocean's edge.
"On Monday, the beginning of the workweek, it should be clearing in the morning," Kohanyi says. "And it should be mainly sunny in the afternoon."
A high of 19 C and a low of 12 C are expected, with the overnight period similar as Sunday night.
"On Tuesday, it is going to be mainly sunny with a high of 19 C, and we're still looking at some wind down at the water," Kohanyi says.
The cloudy times
Clouds are expected to roll in Tuesday night, though temperatures shouldn't drop below 12 C.
"Then it gets a little unsettled on Wednesday," Kohanyi says. "There's a very slim chance of showers; we have a 30 per cent chance of showers on Wednesday."
The showers that do fall will likely be light, he adds, as it's just a weak front brushing past Vancouver. A high of 19 C is still expected.
The unsettled pattern will remain on Thursday, June 5, though it might be a bit cooler, peaking at 18 C. A 30 per cent chance of showers will remain through the day, Kohanyi explains.
Dry weekend
However, Thursday night should see a ridge of high pressure building up and pushing the unsettled weather away.
By Friday morning, Metro Vancouver is forecast to return to a mix of sun and clouds, with no precipitation expected.
A high of 18 C is expected, with Saturday much the same but slightly warmer at 19 C. Sunday will again be similar and be slightly warmer yet again, potentially hitting 20 C.
