Birch earns Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal

Gary Birch, executive director of the Neil Squire Society, was awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. The medal was presented at a special ceremony in Vancouver on Wednesday.

The medal was presented at a special ceremony in Vancouver on Wednesday.

"The Neil Squire Society has served over 25,000 Canadians with disabilities under the direction of Dr. Birch. His passion and dedication have made a significant contribution to the lives of Canadians with disabilities, enabling them to participate more fully in our society," said Rob Attwell, chair of the Neil Squire Society's board of directors. "He is an inspiration to all Canadians."

Before he became the executive director, Birch was the society's director of research and development.

He oversees the society's ongoing work and supervises the research and development team.

The commemorative medal Birch received is to honour significant contributions and achievements of Canadians.

The Neil Squire Society is a national not-for-profit organization that has been using technology to empower people with physical disabilities for the past 27 years.

More than 25,000 people with disabilities in Canada have been helped by the society, which has its headquarters in Burnaby.
