Seventy-three nursing moms descended on the Bonsor Recreation Complex Saturday in an effort to breastfeed all their babies and toddlers simutaneously at exactly 11 a.m. during this year's Breastfeeding Challenge.

The annual event, held across Canada and the U.S., is aimed at promoting breastfeeding and boosting its public profile.

About 25 dads, grandparents and other supporters joined the moms at the Bonsor event this year to show their support.

This is the second time Burnaby has hosted a Breastfeeding Challenge, attracting 50 more nursing moms this year that last year, when 23 registered.

“It was a very successful day,” Burnaby public health nursing supervisor Ronnie Bahia told the NOW.
