The skies may clear for the last long weekend of the summer.

While the kids are getting ready to go back to school, there's plenty of fun things happening in Burnaby for all ages. It's Labour Day weekend and we're continuing with our popular feature - the Burnaby NOW staff's Top 5 (Or More) Things To Do

This Weekend. Here's our Top 5 list for August 30 to September 2.

1 Get shopping at the Burnaby Farmers Market on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the city hall parking lot at 4949 Canada Way. The market offers locally grown produce, prepared food, crafts, live music, a book exchange, and a place for kids to play.

This weekend's market will include a Labour Day weekend celebration. For more information, visit www.artisanmarkets.ca.

2 Get festive at the Nikkei Matsuri a summer Japanese-style family and children's festival. On Saturday and Sunday, the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre will be transformed into an indoor Japanese festival with a kids' zone full of Japanese cultural games, and a performance hall with Japanese food, vendors and performances. The festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday starting at 11 a.m. and runs late into the evening. The Nikkei centre is at 6688 Southoaks Cres.

3 Get swimming at the city's outdoor pools this weekend before they close for the year. The Central Park outdoor pool is open for a public swim from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Kensington, McPherson and Robert Burnaby outdoor pools are open on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. for a public swim and on Sunday there is a free swim from noon to 1:45 p.m. and a public swim from 2 to 5 p.m. For more information, including locations, go to www.burnaby.ca/Things-To-Do/Outdoor-Facilities/Outdoor-Pools.html.

4 Get cheering at the Wesburn Labour Day soccer tournament. The Wesburn Youth Soccer Club is holding its 31st annual tournament from Saturday to Monday at the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex. The club's U11 to U18 teams will be playing. For more information, go to www.wesburnsoccer. com.

5 Get celebrating Labour Day at the annual fall fair at the Burnaby Village Museum. On Sept. 2, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., everyone, young and old, is encouraged to come down and check out the festivities as the museum celebrates Labour Day with an old fashioned fair. This year's fair follows the season's radio theme with a number of radio games and displays. For kids, there will be lots of activities including carousel rides, which are free and being sponsored by CUPE Local 23 and Parks, Recreation and Culture Commission. The museum is at 6501 Deer Lake Ave.
