The oral interviews conducted by historians in Burnaby 40 years ago, along with a documentary on five of Burnaby's freemen - From the Heart: The Freeman Legacy - preserved the voices of residents who lived here in the 1920s, '30s and '40s.

Now, the city archives and Burnaby's heritage partners are planning to capture more voices of the past, with interviews with residents who lived here from the late 1940s to the 1960s.

"We hope to record interviews with 20 to 30 individuals over the next three months and have their stories added to our online collection early in 2013," stated a report from the city archivist Arilea Sill, which was presented to council at last Monday night's meeting.

The report also stated that the Heritage Burnaby website recently won an Award of Honour from Heritage B.C., which will be presented at a ceremony at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts on Oct. 19.
