Divorce, widowhood and making less money than men are some of the financial issues affecting women.

These issues are part of the focus of seminars put on annually by the World Financial Group, according to group associate Anita Voth.

"We tend to do one a year, for women only," Voth said. "We find that women's financial needs are different than men's, and sometimes they open up more just with a group of women and we can gear it towards them."

The financial services broker is holding a free seminar for women in Burnaby tomorrow, to address some of these concerns.

The educational portion of the evening will focus on everything from RRSPs to tax-free savings accounts, and the tax results down the road, Voth said.

"It's about how money grows and what that looks like," she added.

Part of the evening will also provide guidance on looking and planning for the future, she said.

"Part of it is also about focusing on your goals and dreams and how to achieve them."

It is a fun event, and there are door prizes, Voth said.

"They should come wanting to learn, to take control of (their) own financial wellbeing," she added.

In the Company of Women is taking place at the Accent Inn at 3777 Henning Dr. tomorrow. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the session runs from 7 to 9 p.m.

There is limited seating, so those interested in attending should register today, Wednesday, by calling 604-320-1610.
