About 400 people braved the heat on Saturday to check out the first-ever Burnaby RCMP motorcycle safety skills challenge.
The event, which took place at the Riverway Sports Complex from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 27, attracted about 150 riders and an additional 250 stopped by to watch them navigate the course, according to Burnaby RCMP.
Riders from all over the Lower Mainland, including Langley, Surrey, Vancouver and Burnaby, took part, some even arrived before registration had opened, according to Burnaby RCMP.
Motorcyclists had to traverse a recertification course, which tested their riding skills. Mounties were on hand throughout the course to guide riders and answer safety questions.
The aim of the event was to share up-to-date safety information with motorcyclists and info on new motorcycle laws.
