It’s your last chance to catch I Am The Bastard Daughter Of Engelbert Humperdinck at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts. Inspired by true stories, the play features a 10-year-old girl harbouring a secret obsession for the singer, while her mom helps with an Engelbert Humperdinck fan club. The one-woman play’s final showings are on Saturday, at 8 p.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. The Shadbolt Centre is at 6450 Deer Lake Ave. Info or tickets, call 604-205-3000.

Sign up for the mason bee workshop on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Burnaby Lake Regional Park. Participants will learn how to prepare mason bee nest for winter. Emerging from a recent losing streak, the Grandview Steelers look to build a new winning streak in Pacific Junior B Hockey. The club hosts the Port Moody Panthers on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 4 p.m. at the Burnaby Winter Club at 4990 Canada Way.

This Saturday, Nov. 7, is the last day for the children’s chess club at the Bob Prittie Metrotown library branch, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The club is for kids aged six to 12 who want to play informal chess with other kids. Curtis Lister of the Burnaby Junior Chess Club will facilitate. Admission is free, but space is limited. There’s no need to preregister either; just show up. Parents must accompany their children if they are 10 years old or younger. The library branch is at 6100 Willingdon Ave.
