The date is set for a follow-up to February's successful food swap event in Burnaby.

The event will take place on May 1, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Willingdon Community Centre.

Participants bring and swap homemade goods, from canned preserves to homemade bread and homegrown herbs and more.

The first-ever Burnaby Food Swap was held in February and was profiled by the NOW. Organizer Roberta LaQuaglia told the NOW she was inspired to organize the event after hearing about similar activities in other places and realizing she had a big surplus of home canned goods.

Participants bring items to swap, and then have the chance to look at other items before bidding - silent-auction style - and making final trades.

Pre-registration is required; for full details and to register see http://maydayfoodswap.eventbrite.com.
