The Burnaby-based Down Syndrome Foundation is hosting LemonAid, a gala fundraiser on May 23 at the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond, and a well-known figure from the hit TV show Glee will be there.

Lauren Potter, an actress with Down syndrome, plays Becky Jackson on Glee. U.S. President Barack Obama appointed her as an advisor to the White House on special needs issues. Potter will be making an appearance at the May 23 show. Other entertainers include Cease and Desist, Burnaby crooner Stephen Scaccia and pianist Austin Nash Park.

There will be several items up for auction: an autographed Rolling Stones guitar, a Beatles album signed by Paul McCartney, an autographed Billy Joel photo, and Taylor Swift tickets. Artists and celebrities have also donated art pieces for the auction. Proceeds from the evening go to the Down Syndrome Research Foundation, a Burnaby-based charity that runs programs for people with Down syndrome. Tickets are $85, available online at dsrf.donorpages.com/lemonaid, or call 604-444-3773 for more information.
