Got a technologically inclined kid in the house?
The Burnaby Public Library is once again offering TechPlay: Fun with Sphero sessions on Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Tommy Douglas branch.
Kids aged seven to nine can take part from 2 to 3 p.m., while 10- to 12-year-olds can take part from 4 to 5 p.m. Participants will learn the basic of programming Sphero, a robot toy that’s controlled by an app on a tablet or smartphone. Children will get a short lesson, followed by a game.
Registration is required (it starts Oct. 1), and the programs are always popular, so anyone interested in taking part is encouraged to sign up ahead by calling 604-522-3971 or online at www.bpl.bc.ca/events.
Also on the technology front, children aged eight to 10 are invited to sign up for Fun with Electronics: LittleBits. The session is on Thursday, Oct. 21 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Bob Prittie (Metrotown) library branch. LittleBits are a creative toy that allows children to explore the world of circuitry.
All children must bring an adult who will participate. Registration is needed in advance – see www.bpl.bc.ca/events.
