Burnabarians are getting a reprieve from all of the miserable fog and buckets of rain – but it won’t last, of course.
Environment Canada is calling for a weekend full of sunshine and chilly overnight lows followed by several cloudy days and some rain at the start of next week.
Starting on Friday, Feb. 11, however, the forecast includes clearing skies with sunshine in the afternoon and a high of 8°C; temperatures are expected to dip down to 2°C overnight.
The City of Burnaby has been actively promoting people to get outside on its local trails, including at Central Park, Deer Lake, Burnaby Mountain and at Burnaby Lake Regional Park.
Saturday's forecast includes bright sunshine during the day with another high of 8°C. But the overnight low is supposed to dip down to freezing, so don't forget to dress warmly after the sunshine during the day.
Sunday is also expected to see some sunshine, albeit with some cloudy periods. The overnight temperature is expected to be significantly milder than the previous two nights as some clouds roll into the region.
The precipitation is slated to return Monday, with the federal forecaster calling for rain during the day and periods of drizzle overnight. However, the wet weather is expected to cease after that day, with the rest of the week looking decidedly cloudy but dry.
