Mom Cecilia Johnson and two-and-a-half-year-old Serina make a craft at the North Burnaby Healthy Kids Fair held at Cameron Recreation Complex back in 2009. The event is still going strong – and this year’s fair is set for Tuesday, March 6.

Parents of babies and preschoolers are invited out to join in the fun at the North Burnaby Healthy Kids Fair.

The fair, now in its 15th year of serving families in North Burnaby and Coquitlam, draws about 200 adults and kids out to enjoy a morning of fun and information.

This year’s event is set for Tuesday, March 6 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Cameron Recreation Complex, 9523 Cameron St.

Kids from birth up to age five are invited to attend with their parents or caregivers. Kids can enjoy active play, crafts, storytime and other activities, while parents can have their child checked by community health nurses and consult about nutrition, dental health, child development, immunizations, vision and speech development.

Local agencies that work for the well-being of young children will be on hand to offer information and referrals.

Everything is provided free of charge, including a snack room for parents and kids.

The fair is offered cooperatively by the Burnaby school district’s community schools, Fraser Health Authority, Burnaby parks, recreation and cultural services, Shadbolt Centre for the Arts and the Burnaby North Community Association.

Volunteers from the community help out on the day of the event, and students come from nearby secondary schools to lend a hand. For more information, or to volunteer to help out, call 604-837-6850 or email [email protected].
