Burnaby’s Hastings Street has all hands on deck for the 34th Hats Off Day festival.

On Saturday, June 2, approximately 50,000 people will join the Burnaby Heights Merchants as they take their “hats off” to their community and their customers. This year’s theme – Pirates and Sailors – will dominate the annual parade, followed by a big street party.

The day starts at 9:30 a.m. with the Family Fun Dash where kids and families sprint down Hastings St. for a thrilling 3-block race from Madison Avenue to MacDonald Avenue.

Next up, the Vancouver Motorcycle and Seattle Police Drill Teams will lead the colourful main-street style parade at 10 a.m., followed by a big street party where you can spot pirates and sailors sailing the streets. While you cruise down Hastings, enjoy the live music, street performers, various sidewalk sales, and delicious food until 4 p.m., not to mention, a vintage car show at the Show & Shine from Gamma Ave. to Willingdon Street.

Special guests this year are the Laughing Loggers, who will be showcasing a pirate-themed, adventure-packed water spectacle!

“Every direction you look, there are fun activities and live entertainment, not just for kids, but for everyone” says Kolic. “Each block you walk down truly highlights a unique aspect of the Burnaby Heights community.”
