Memories in art

The Burnaby Art Gallery has a couple of new exhibitions opening Friday, April 19.

Arts Alive's theme for this year is "Memories of Place," which will showcase a range of artwork by students in the Burnaby School District, from kindergarten to Grade 7, in the main floor gallery.

The second floor gallery will feature an exhibition called Focus on the Collection: Wood Engraving, a selection of wood engravings acquired by the gallery over the past 60 years.

Works by master printmakers Alistair Bell, Henry Eric Bergman, Edwin Holgate, Leonard Hutchinson and Clare Leighton will be on display.

An opening reception for both exhibitions will be held on Thursday, April 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the gallery, located at 6344 Deer Lake Ave.
