The event is hosted by the Burnaby Board of Trade and takes place at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown at 6083 McKay Ave. from 11: 30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tickets for members are $60 or $450 for a table of eight, and for non-members, $75 per person or $570 for a table of eight.

ANTI-BULLYING CONTEST FOR STUDENTS

Metropolis at Metrotown is running an anti-bullying contest this month on its Facebook page.

People can enter the contest via the Fight Bullying tab on the Metropolisatmet Facebook page by uploading a photo, writing an anti-bullying message and sharing the picture on their timeline.

The message with the most votes wins the contestant $1,000 in gift cards and $500 for their school's anti-bullying efforts. Another five $100 gift cards will be awarded randomly.

FALSE CREEK COLLISION OFFERS INSIDE GLIMPSE

Ever wonder what happens to your car when it goes in for repairs? A local Burnaby auto-body shop has produced a short video documenting the process.

The two-minute video, posted on False Creek Collision's website, shows the company's pick up/drop off process, but also details the steps taken once the vehicle is in the shop.

AUTHOR COMING TO BURNABY

Chapters Metrotown is holding a book signing with a prominent author next month, but people who want their books signed have to get a special wristband first.

On March 26, Cassandra Clare will be signing copies of the final book in her Infernal Devices Trilogy, Clockwork Princess, at 6 p.m.

Clare is a bestselling author of fantasy novels for young adults.

Wristbands for Clare's signing are being handed out to the first 400 customers to purchase Clockwork Princess on March 19 at 9 a.m. Wristbands are necessary to attend the signing.

ARTIST ON DRAGONS' DEN

Burnaby artist Masha Tikhonova, who teaches at Pinocchio Arts and Craft School in the Heights, is finally getting her 15 minutes next month.

Tikhonova went to Toronto to pitch her anatomy artwork on Dragons' Den last May. The episode with her segment is airing on Sunday, March 24, according to Tikhonova.

She is marketing her paintings to doctors' offices and clinics, and has created a website where doctors can order prints as well as original work, she told the NOW last spring.

Tikhonova has been teaching at the children's art school on Hastings Street since it opened in 2011.
