Save the date: Aug. 25, 6 to 9 p.m.
What is it? Small Plates on the Lake, a special event hosted by Tourism Burnaby, featuring small dishes from some of the city’s best restaurants.
Why you can’t miss it: Because you will be snacking on tasty tapas style treats overlooking idyllic Deer Lake with a DJ spinning a variety of music.
Who’s serving: The Hart House Restaurant, e.b.o. Restaurant, Trattoria Burnaby, the Riverway Clubhouse, Reflect Social Dining + Lounge. There will be vegetarian options. Patrons vote on their favourite dish, and the winner is announced at the end of the evening.
Venue: The south plaza at Deer Lake Park, just behind the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, at 6450 Deer Lake Ave.
Tips: Tourism Burnaby insists there’s no dress code, but we suggest cool but casual cocktail attire. Also, if you’re a foodie and you have questions about the food, the chefs serving are usually happy to explain.
Ticket info: Tickets are $64, available online at www.tourismburnaby.com/smallplatesburnaby. Five dollars from each ticket will go to the Burnaby Hospital Foundation. Tourism Burnaby is expecting 300 people to attend. Last year’s event sold out, so get your tickets early.
