The Cariboo Dam will be closed for two weeks.

Metro Vancouver is closing a popular recreation area at Burnaby Lake Regional Park, but has set up a detour.

Cariboo Dam at the eastern end of the park will be closed for about two weeks, starting on Feb. 22.

“A closure is required to make upgrades to the dam and improvements to the walkway over it,” says Metro Vancouver. “The work is expected to take about two weeks. During this time, there will be no public access over the Cariboo Dam. However, a 700m detour route will be in place that will allow visitors to complete the Burnaby Lake Loop.”

Walker are urged to follow posted safety signs and plan alternate routes. For information about the Cariboo Dam Walkway Project, call 604-432-6200. For information about the park, call 604-520-6442.
