The six-time world champion SFU Pipe Band is celebrating all things Scottish in honour of Robbie Burns.
The band is hosting its annual Robbie Burns fundraising dinner on Saturday, Jan. 27.
Guests can enjoy dinner (including haggis), watch Highland dancers, and enjoy entertainment by pipes and drums in a five-star affair at the Executive Plaza Hotel and Conference Centre. And, of course, the evening will include readings of the work of Scotland’s most famous poet.
The evening is in support of the Robert Malcolm Memorial Pipe Band, the SFU Pipe Band’s junior organization that includes four bands and a beginner instructional program. With uniforms and instruments costing more than $2,000 per member, fundraising is an important part of the band’s year.
Scottish dress is encouraged, but business formal wear is also welcome.
Cocktails and silent auction start at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. The Executive Plaza is at 405 North Rd., Coquitlam.
Tickets are $80, with special pricing for tables of 12. Tickets are sold in advance only through www.sfupipeband.com or sfupbsociety.wildapricot.org/event-2692522.
