The Burnaby Task Force on Homelessness is calling on residents to dig deep in their closets to help people sleeping outdoors.
The task force is seeking donations of gently used clothing and blankets to distribute to Burnaby’s homeless population at the annual Twice Feels Nice event.
“It feels nice to share your used items with someone in need,” said Wanda Mulholland, task force spokesperson in a press release. “Clothing provides essential protection against the elements, serves to keep people safe, dry and warm while also assisting someone living in extreme poverty to function within society to access housing, food, services, training and employment.”
The donation drop off time for Twice Feels Nice is on May 14, from noon to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Central Christian Assembly at 5585 Imperial St. For more information on the task force, visit www.burnabyhomelesstaskforce.org.
