The Sunshine Coast medical community is launching its first Teddy Bear Hospital, set to take place at the beautiful Sunshine Coast Botanical Gardens on April 27. This unique event is hosted by Dr. Paul Dhillon, a Sechelt physician, and his wife Sarah Dhillon, a lactation consultant. The event aims to bring smiles, comfort, and a bit of medical intrigue and information to children and families in the area.
The event will have doctors and healthcare staff along with volunteers from the local Health Care Auxiliary, ensuring a smile filled, educational, and fun environment for all attendees. Participants are required to bring their teddy bears to the event, where kids will have the opportunity to rotate through four engaging medical stations. Each station is designed to provide care to the teddies, mimicking real-life medical procedures in a child-friendly manner. It’s a wonderful way for children to gain a basic understanding of healthcare, demystify hospital visits, and learn the importance of caring for others.
Tickets are $10 per child/adult and includes a hot dog/vegetarian lunch and snacks, tea and coffee.
Funds raised from the event will be donated to support the Halfmoon Bay Child Care Centre Society this year, underscoring the events commitment to youth.
