The 12 Days of Christmas in Burnaby: Day 11

The Christmas season is rapidly winding to a close, and all too soon kids will go back to being cooped up indoors at school. Which makes today a perfect day to get outside and enjoy all the beauty and wonder of Burnaby.
Christmas Bird Count for Kids, Burnaby Lake
Peter Lawrence (park interpretation specialist) leads the the annual Christmas Bird Count for kids at Burnaby Lake Park on Dec. 3. Burnaby Lake is one of our favourite outdoor destinations in the city.

The Christmas season is rapidly winding to a close, and all too soon kids will go back to being cooped up indoors at school.

Which makes today a perfect day to get outside and enjoy all the beauty and wonder of Burnaby. Dress for the weather - whatever the day may bring - and get out to explore some of the natural world that surrounds us.

Where should you go exploring? Well, that's up to you, but we can tell you that we have a few favourites. There's the 10-kilometre loop around Burnaby Lake, for one. Or the trails at Deer Lake or Fraser Foreshore Park. Or drive up to Burrard Inlet and stroll along the beach at Barnet Marine Park.

Wherever you choose, be sure to enjoy some fresh air - and follow it up with a nice warm cup of hot chocolate when you get home.
