Looking for something to do this weekend? Look no further. The NOW has compiled a list of the best and most interesting activities going on in our community for the weekend of May 31 and June 1.
Check out the Healthy Aging Fair on Saturday, May 31 at Lougheed Town Centre. There will be more than 30 booths featuring products and services promoting healthy aging. There are also give-aways, prize draws and entertainment. There will be free blood-pressure checks and chair massages onsite. The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Swing by the barbecue fundraiser on Saturday for Cops for Cancer, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Choices Market at 8683 10th Ave. Kristy Ferro, candidate for Miss Teen B.C. 2014, will make a special appearance, and there will be a raffle and prizes. Need advice on how to handle your dog? Professional trainer George Ferro will be there, offering tips, by donation between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Check out the Saturday Kidstuff Swapmeet at the Edmonds Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be more than 70 tables of gently used kids' items and maternity clothes. The centre is at 7433 Edmonds St., and admission is free. If you would like to clear out some closet space, consider renting a table for $19.26 and turn some of your household clutter into cash. Visit the 637 Arrow Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron's Annual Ceremonial Review at Bill Copeland Sports Complex, 3676 Kensington Ave., 12:30 to 4 p.m. on Sunday June 1. The squadron will be out in full force, with inspection by various Canadian military dignitaries at 1 p.m. and a ceremonial parade and march past in the complex. And there are refreshments, to boot.
Here's something fun for the little ones with Lego obsessions. The McGill library branch is hosting a Lego Club session for kids ages five to 12, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. The event is free, and registration is not required, but caregivers must stay with the kids aged 10 or younger. McGill is at 4595 Albert St.
