Check out a human bookat the Bob Prittie Metrotown branch of the library this Saturday, May 23, from 1 to 5:30 p.m. The branch is hosting a human library event, where people act as live books, available for conversations with library patrons. Interesting people-titles include a teen stroke survivor, a fraud examiner and a convict. The goal of the human library project is to reduce prejudice and break down stereotypes through frank conversation.
Don’t miss the annual show of Japanese floralat the Alan Emmott Centre on Saturday, May 23, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is by donation, and there will be contemporary and traditional flower arrangements on display. At 2 p.m., there will be an artist demo, as well. The interesting thing about this year’s show is there are artists demonstrating four different schools of style. The Danone Nations Cup is the world’s largest soccer tournament for kids aged 10 to 12. The west field is at 3677 Kensington Ave.
