It’s also a good idea to bring water and a snack. The ride last about 90 minutes and runs along Victory Street to the Edmonds Loop.

Check out the Inclusion Festival on Saturday, June 13, from noon to 4 p.m. at Ernie Winch Park, at 7680 15th St.  This event has an anti-bullying theme and was started by a local mom with money from the Vancouver Foundation’s neighbourhood small grants program. This year’s event features multicultural dancing, arts, crafts, games, snacks and more. Admission is free.
  3. Learn the basics of streamkeeping this Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to noon at Jim Lorimer Park. Evergreen is hosting Uncover Your Creeks, a free citizen-science workshop during Environment Week. Participants will learn about handling invasive plants and monitoring water quality in nearby Chub Creek. Evergreen will provide gloves, tools and refreshments. Bring your own boots and sunscreen. The park is close to Gilmore Avenue and Dawson Street, in Central Burnaby, just off the Central Valley Greenway. Evergreen hosts this event the second Saturday of the month, rain or shine.

Don’t miss the annual Japanese book sale at the Nikkei Centre this Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s the largest sale of its kind in the city, and there will be tens of thousands of books at bargain prices. There will also be food stands, kids’ crafts and beauty exhibitions. Admission is free. The centre is at 6688 Southoaks Cres.
  5. Go for a paddle on Burnaby Lake for free this Saturday, June 13, at the Burnaby Canoe and Kayak Club's open house. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and the club will let people try a recreational kayak, a racing kayak or a dragonboat for free. There will also be a silent auction, games and activities.
