The annual Fiji Fest is on at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby this weekend.
Head to Swangard Stadium on Saturday, July 18 for the annual Fiji Festival. The event is on from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and there will be food, kids’ rides, a fashion show, a soccer tournament, dance performances and a yagona ceremony, where local dignitaries are invited to drink a special traditional concoction. Don’t miss the Edmonds City Fair this Sunday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Edmonds Street, between Canada Way and Kingsway. The community fair features entertainment, kids’ activities, a petting zoo, a talent contest and the beloved classic car and motorcycle show. The Burnaby Neighbourhood House will be hosting an International Village, where local residents showcase items reflecting their home country and culture. Admission is free.

As part of the Homegrown Harvest Workshop series, the Burnaby Village Museum is hosting a how-to session on jam making on Sunday, July 19 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Master canner Alice Macpherson will lead the event, teaching participants how to make preserves and jams. Have you ever wanted to see inside the historic Overlynn Mansion in Burnaby Heights?
