Moscrop Secondary School is hosting a yogathon on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for B.C. Red Cross, with proceeds going directly to B.C wildfire disaster relief. Everyone, regardless of skill level, is welcome to come and practise yoga. Burnaby firefighters will be in attendance to discuss fire safety. They’ll even have a fire truck onsite for the kids. The school is at 4433 Moscrop St. Participants are asked to bring their own mat and water, and wear loose clothing.

Saint Francis de Sales Church (6610 Balmoral St.) is having a bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 21. There will be fresh Okanagan apples, home baking, jewelery and more. This is a great opportunity to start Christmas shopping. The bazaar is on from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Drop by the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre (6688 Southoaks Cres.) on Saturday, Oct. 21 for a fall harvest market. There will be plenty of Japanese vegetables on sale, including kabocha, kabu, kyuri, nasu, daikon and more. Proceeds go toward maintaining the community kitchen and supporting cultural programming at Nikkei Centre. Admission is free. The event is on from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Edmonds Community Centre (7433 Edmonds St.) will be rockin’ for Burnaby non-profits on Saturday, Oct. 21. Entertainment will be provided by Jason and Grant (from Freedom 95), Lucy Baja and guests, Abigail and the Tune Crunchers, and Rainshadow. Tickets are $20 each. All net proceeds go to several local non-profit groups including the Task Force to End Homelessness in Burnaby, Burnaby Neighbourhood House, Charlford House Society for Women and the Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion. There will also be a silent auction and contest for best ’60s costume of the night. Doors open at 7 p.m. There will be a bar selling alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. For tickets, contact one of the four charities mentioned above.

Head to Edmonds Community School on Saturday, Oct. 21 for a free barbecue. Between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., there will be food, music and kids’ activities. The event, also an information forum, is for local residents who depend on the Southside Community Church food bank. Attendees can connect with community resources, notes a press release.
