Explore the Burnaby Village Museum at night, from 6 to 9 p.m., until Oct. 30. Tickets cost $14 for adults, youth and seniors, and $9 for kids ages two to 12. Members get in free. The entrance fee includes trick-or-treating for the children, entertainment and carousel rides. Do note that the Ice Cream Parlour will be open for ghoulish snacks and light meals.
Head to Cameron Recreation Complex on Saturday, Oct. 28 for the Halloween Howler. From 10 a.m. to noon, there will be plenty of activities, including face painting, guess the pumpkin’s weight, preschool Halloween crafts and more. Wear a costume and be entered in a prize draw. This is a free event but attendees are welcome to bring a canned good for the food bank. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The rec centre is at 9523 Cameron St.
The Bill Copeland Sports Centre is hosting a Ghouls and Goblins toonie skate on Saturday, Oct. 28. The spine-tingling day, on from 12:30 to 3 p.m., also consists of face painting and creepy crafts. Admission, which includes skates and a helmet, is $2. And, of course, costumes are encouraged.
Take the kids to Shadbolt Centre (6450 Deer Lake Ave.) for Art on the Spot: Homemade Superheroes. Using recycled fabrics and simple craft items, Tina Ozols from Oona Clothing will guide participants through the creation of an original costume for their alter-ego. This free event is on from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.
In keeping with the Halloween theme, CG Brown Memorial Pool (3702 Kensington Ave.) will have a special swim on Sunday, Oct. 29 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. There will be games, candy and prizes. Kids seven and under must have an adult with them in the water. Family swim admission rates apply.
