Attend a trivia challenge fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 5 at the Firefighters’ Public House, 6515 Bonsor Ave. It’s all in support of a dog rescue group, Soi Dog Canada, which fights to stop the dog meat trade in Asia. All proceeds go to sponsoring flights for the dogs, which are rescued and adopted out. Tickets cost $25 per person, and include entry to the trivia game and a $10 food/beverage credit (on a minimum $14 order). There will be prizes, silent and live auctions and a 50/50 draw. A local father’s meet-up group (Vancouver Dads), which is owned and operated by Burnaby resident Leland Dieno, has partnered with the Vancouver Aquarium and the World Wildlife Fund to participate in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup and will be cleaning up one of Burnaby’s shores on Saturday, Nov. 4. The event is open to the public and not just fathers. Absolutely anyone can attend. Enjoy a free barbecue, professional photographer and free giveaways all day. Head to Jubilee United Church (7551 Gray Ave.) on Saturday, Nov. 4 for a pancake and sausage breakfast. Food will be served from 8 a.m. to noon. Breakfast costs $7 for anyone 12 and up, and $3 for kids ages six to 11 (free for children six and under).
