1 Join the party at Hats off Day in Burnaby Heights this Saturday with 50,000 of your neighbours on Hastings Street. The family fun dash starts at 9:30 a.m., and the parade begins at 10 a.m. After that, there’s a street festival and car show until 4 p.m. There’s lots of options for foodies all along Hastings, and don’t forget the live entertainment lineups with shows running from 11:45 to 4 p.m. There’s plenty to do for people of all ages. 2 Hunt for art bargains at Art from the Attic this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Deer Lake United Church. 5135 Sperling Ave. You’ll find hundreds of donated framed pieces of art, and all proceeds go to the Stephen Lewis Foundation. 3 Check out a new show at the Burnaby Neighbourhood House’s North House (4908 Hastings St.) with artwork created by Lucyna Eschner. Proceeds from the art sold will be donated to the Adventist Development and Relief Agency.
4 Say Aloha to Hawaiian culture at the Spread the Aloha market this Saturday at Our Lady of Mercy Elementary School, 7481 10th Ave. There will be two hula performances, Hawaiian food and a DJ playing Hawaiian tunes. The market runs from 10 a.m.to 3 p.m., and features more than 30 local vendors, with clothing, jewelry, sweet treats and décor. Admission is free, and the first 25 families get a swag bag.
5 Get outside and enjoy one of Burnaby’s many parks. The weather forecast is calling for a pleasant Saturday, so head out to Central Park, Robert Burnaby Park, Kensington Park or Burnaby Mountain Conservation Area with your friends and family.
