The Heights Merchants Association organizes the annual affair, which draws tens of thousands of people. There will be a parade, booths from local businesses, freebies, fun activities and more. Swing by the Burnaby Cactus and Succulent Society’s annual plant sale on Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Royal Square Mall in New Westminster. The Burnaby group’s yearly sale is a great chance to buy a wide variety of cacti and succulents at great prices. There are some varieties that are hard to find at your typical store. Club members are also happy to share advice on plant care.
Sunday, June 7 is the last day to check out Registered, an exhibition at the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre. The show features photos by Leslie Hossack, highlighting the experience of Japanese Canadians during the Second World War, when they were registered and put in internment camps. The gallery, at 6688 South Oaks Cres., is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is by donation.
Peruse the items up for grabs at the car trunk sale on Saturday, June 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre, 3676 Kensington Ave. The event runs rain or shine. If you’re interested in selling, you can rent a parking stall for $13.45 and hawk items from the trunk of your vehicle. To sign up for a stall, call 604-297-4521. Join the Burnaby Safeway Walk for Muscular Dystrophy on Saturday, June 6, in Central Park’s picnic area. Registration at noon, walk begins at 1 p.m. The goal is to raise $50,000, and so far, participants have raised $32,450.
