- Check out Sangja on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Shadbolt Centre, at 6450 Deer Lake Ave. It’s an hour-long tale of a Korean boy adopted into a Canadian family, told through a series of puppets showing him at different stages of his life. The piece mixes puppetry, theatre and music, while exploring issues of race, identity and international adoption. - The Burnaby Art Gallery fundraiser sale is on Saturday, Nov. 21, from noon to 5 p.m. There will be a silent auction with works by well-known artists, including John Koerner, J.C. Heywood, Sonny Assu, Susan Gransby, Joseph Therrien, Barbara Zeigler and Hannah Bennett. Opening bids for the art will start at half off the market value. There will also be crafts (where patrons can make their own wrapping paper), cookies and tea. - The Burnaby Village Museum is all decked out for the holidays, so swing by and check out Heritage Christmas, which runs until Jan. 1. The museum is putting an old-fashioned twist on things, with seasonal displays, community choirs, live entertainment and light displays. Admission is free. Hours are Monday to Friday, 1 to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 9 p.m. The museum is at 4949 Canada Way.
- Check out the giant flea market on this Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Maywood Community School. It’s a good chance to go bargain hunting. Admission is only 50 cents. Maywood is at 4567 Imperial St.
