For this week's feature, we have another community fair, a hockey swap and some parks activities.

1 Get paddling on Burnaby Lake with a Metro Vancouver summer program for families on Friday, Aug. 5, from 6: 30 to 8: 30 p.m. Canoeing instruction and equipment provided.

Pre-register by calling 604-432-6359. It's for kids aged six and older, and the cost is $16 per person.

2 Get selling your used hockey gear at the hockey swap and expo. Start by dropping off your equipment for consignment on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Burnaby Winter Club, at 4990 Canada Way.

Equipment must be clean and in good shape - no rips, tears or cracks. The sale is on Sunday, Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There's also a pancake breakfast beforehand, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Anything not sold can be picked up on Sunday, between 5 and 8 p.m.

3 Get walking at Burnaby Lake, with a guided tour from Metro Vancouver on Saturday, Aug. 6, from 10: 30 to 11 a.m.

An interpreter will talk about five common animal signs often seen in local parks.

Meet in the Nature House on Piper Avenue, off Winston Street.

4 Get entertained at Lougheed Town Centre and Brentwood. Both malls will have live entertainment Friday and Saturday afternoons, starting Aug. 5 and running till Sept. 3.

5 Get celebrating at the Kensington Community Fair on Saturday, Aug. 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair features info booths from local nonprofit groups and politicians. There are rides for the kids, food and entertainment. re) o do kend Admission is free. The fair is in Kensington Park. This is a volunteerrun event, organized by the North Burnaby Community Association.
