The South Burnaby Neighbourhood House is teaming up with Voices of Burnaby Seniors for a free training program that helps isolated seniors. Volunteers, in concert with a seniors' outreach worker, will help the elderly connect with community services and programs.

Volunteers learn about health and social issues, how to help, effective communication, self-awareness, the ethics of helping others and how to take action. The sessions run on Mondays, from Oct. 3 to Nov. 21, but there's no class on Oct. 10.

The training takes place at the South Burnaby Neighbourhood House, at 4845 Imperial St. For more information or to register, contact Joan Thomsen at 604-431-0400.
